Every so often a wedding comes along that feels like the perfect mix of elegant and joyful, and Julianna and John’s was exactly that. They called their vibe an “elegant spring dance party,” and they nailed it. The day unfolded at the stunning Providence Public Library in Providence, Rhode Island, with timeless style, heartfelt details, and a dance floor that stayed packed all night. I’m Nicole Perfetuo of The Perfet Photo, and I loved every minute of documenting this one.

How They Met
Julianna and John’s story started on Hinge, shortly after Julianna moved to Boston for a new job. For their first date, John booked a table at Zuzu’s Petals, a cute little wine bar in Cambridge. When Julianna walked in, she was surprised to find they were the only two people there. It stayed that way the entire night. They still laugh about it. The two hit it off instantly and talked for hours. By the end of the date, they knew. They shared their first kiss in the rain, and it became the best night ever.

The Proposal at Zuzu’s Petals
John’s proposal brought their story full circle. He planned it for their second anniversary. Throughout the day, he scheduled three separate dates and handed Julianna a card before each one, so she knew something was up. At the end of the night, he proposed right outside Zuzu’s Petals, where it all began. His sister had set up beautiful flowers for the moment. Afterward, they walked in to celebrate, and this time the bar was full. They sat at the very same table from their first date.
Getting Ready at The Beatrice Hotel and The Graduate
The morning began with both sides getting ready separately. Julianna and her girls prepped at the Beatrice Hotel, a chic and stylish spot in the heart of Providence. John and his guys got ready at The Graduate. The anticipation was building on both sides, and you could feel how excited they were to finally see each other.

A First Look and First Dance to Remember
Julianna and John were most excited about two moments: their first look and their first dance. And for good reason. The couple takes weekly dance lessons together as a date night, so their first dance was something they had genuinely been building toward. That kind of practice shows. Their connection on the dance floor was one of my favorite things to photograph all day.

A Classic Celebration at the Providence Public Library
The ceremony and reception both took place at the Providence Public Library. If you’ve never seen a wedding here, picture grand architecture, timeless detail, and a sense of history that makes every photo feel elevated. The venue held special meaning for the couple. Julianna is from Rhode Island, and she and John have made so many memories in the state together. Choosing the Providence Public Library was a way to honor that.
So much of their planning came down to one goal: being fully present with each other and their guests. They wanted everyone to have the best time possible. Judging by that packed dance floor, they got their wish. As a Rhode Island wedding photographer, I always love when a couple picks a venue that means something to them, and this one clearly did.

Meaningful Details and Family Touches
The personal touches are always where a couple’s heart shows, and this wedding was full of them. Julianna and John set up a memory table with framed photos of their grandparents who have passed. John’s grandparents are from New Jersey, and Julianna’s are from Italy and Japan. It was a beautiful way to keep loved ones close on the day.
Julianna wore one of her grandmother’s bracelets with her second dress, a lovely nod to family. The couple even called their bridal party their “something blue.” And in a wonderful family collaboration, Julianna’s brother-in-law Javier, a graphic designer, created all of their wedding day signage.

The Fashion
Julianna knew she’d found her dress the moment it made her tear up. It felt like her: classic and chic, with a few modern touches. She later changed into a second look and wore her grandmother’s bracelet with it. John chose a tux because he wanted to feel like the coolest, most dressed-up version of himself. Together, they looked timeless.

More Rhode Island Weddings
Rhode Island is one of my favorite places to photograph, from Providence to the coast. If you love this one, you’ll want to see Caroline and Luke’s Castle Hill Inn wedding and Hannah and Willy’s butter yellow Newport wedding, both set along the beautiful Newport shoreline.
Love a Library Wedding?
There’s something timeless about saying “I do” surrounded by soaring architecture and old-world detail. If the Providence Public Library stole your heart, you’ll love my Boston Public Library weddings too: Nikki and Justin’s multicultural celebration, Danielle and AJ’s elegant affair, and Jenny and Eddy’s black-tie evening.
